About Lynn Lancaster

Lynn Lancaster is a native of Southeast Missouri. Rural life is the focus of many of his paintings. Lynn likes his paintings to tell a story or evoke a memory.  He must have an emotional attachment to the subject and he considers a painting a success if he captures the feeling of the moment. Cotton fields are one of his favorite subjects as well as old barns and trucks.

He works primarily with oils and watercolor.  He also does pen and inks of historical structures, primarily in the Sikeston area.

Lynn first studied with Beth Huber, who taught him the building blocks of a good painting.  Huber taught him how to develop his own style of painting.  He  also studied with Billy O’Donnell, plein aire artist and author, as well as workshops with Roger Bansemer and Don Sahli. His greatest knowledge has been through his studies with Cleda Curtis, who taught him the concepts of design, value, color temperature, and color harmony.  currently tries to work en plein aire where one can absorb the environment surrounding the subject.
